As winter weaves its magic, there is lots to celebrate with natural decorations. I found plenty of festive spirit at theĀ  sawmill in Cannonmills where the Christmas tree loggers shared their secret mound of lower branch off-cuts for me to use in wreaths.

Just back from the allotment where Bonnie helped me plant the last of the bulbs ready for Spring – ‘little red riding hood’ tulips, ebony French tulips and alliums of all colours and sizes. They are now sleeping under blankets of warm compost; safe against the winter frost.

What to do with a glut of green tomatoes? Send them to the whistle stop cafe?
I’ve spent the afternoon clearing and raking the soil of old plants; ready to settle for autumn. I’m looking forward to warm hues of crimson, burnt-orange and and plum fringing the allotment plots.
